Boys play three games this week…

Fulda boys open season with loss to hot-shooting Windom Eagles

The Raiders finished off their week by traveling up Highway 59 to face one of the top teams in the Red Rock Conference, in the MCC Rebels. The Raiders fought hard but ultimately fell 65-45.

Tyler Madison led the way for the Raiders, finishing with 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Logan Erdmann added 5 rebounds for Fulda.

The Rebels started the game by finding holes in the Raider defense. MCC hit a 3 in transition and then worked the ball around and drove through the lane to take an early 8-0 lead. Following the Raiders’ timeout, Madison was able to turn the corner and get all the way to the basket for a layup. That took the lid off the basket for Fulda, as Payton Marquardt and Cory Renneke were able to from the range from distance to cut the lead to 13-8. MCC continued to be patient and work the ball around, but they began to cool off, while Madison began a hot streak for the Raiders. Madison hit back to back threes, and then posting up for 2. The Raiders’ defense picked up a little and they were able to get some stops towards the end of the half to only trail 31-23.

Boys struggle on the offensive end in 51-45 loss to Ellsworth

The Raiders looked to bounce back after their loss to Windom when they played host to the Ellsworth Panthers on December 4th. Unfortunately, the Raiders couldn’t get their offense going and fell to the Panthers, 51-45.

Sam Cheadle led the way for the Raiders with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Payton Marquardt added 13 points and 4 assists. Tyler Madison contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds.

The start of the Ellsworth game felt very similar to the start of the Windom game for the Raiders. Their offense was slow to form, while Ellsworth got off to a quick start. Ellsworth was able to move the ball around to find their spot to strike through drives to the basket. Fulda started to come alive through the play of Cheadle. He was able to slash through the Panther defense to find key spots to attack.
