Thursday, July 10, 1958

Mrs. John Clark remains in the Worthington hospital after several weeks of being ill due to surgery and blood clots.

Twins, Ronald and Roland, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Art Sandhurst, were two years old Wednesday and were given a party in honor of their birthday.

The Brady family enjoyed a reunion on Saturday at the Herman Haberman home at Heron Lake.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Odenbretts and Rickey and Ginger return to their home in Los Angeles after spending two weeks with her mother, Mrs. Helma Erickson.

The Meyer - Tammeus family reunion was held in the Fulda Park on Sunday.

The Basche - Willms reunion was held at Terrace Park, Sioux Falls, on the the 4th of July.

Emma Jean, Paul and John Lober of Columbus, Wis., and Marcy Dable of Wauskeha, Wis., were overnight guests at the George Lober Jr. home as they were enroute to Sioux Falls to attend the funeral of Emil Wolf.

A representative of the Social Security Administration will be at the courthouse in Slayton, Minnesota, on July 14th. Any desiring information concerning the benefits of the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance program may contact them at that time.

Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Jenkins of Owatonna are the parents of a son, born Sunday, July 6, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Appel are the maternal grandparents.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kolander wish to announce that they have adopted a five-week-old baby boy, Daniel John. Mr. and Mrs. Kolander brought their little son home on Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. James Steiner are the parents of a son, Jerrild Allan, born June 28th in Slayton.

Thursday, July 13, 1978

Strong winds in Avoca on Thursday night moved a grain bin from the elevator two blocks down to Faith Evangelical Church.

Roger Busswitz’s new mobile home was flipped over during the storm, Joe Gorman had a tree topple over onto his house, and Harold Sandhurst had a tree puncture the roof of his house.

It is thought that with all the damage done in Avoca there must have been a small tornado go through according to Policeman Duane Duis.

Fulda, Dundee and Kinbrae were fortunate enough to only have a few trees down.

Crops were also damaged in the storm as large amounts of corn lay flat thanks the high winds, rain and hail.

A pool hearing was held with many questions answered concerning the pros and cons of constructing and indoor pool by the elementary school.

Northwestern Bell will hold an open house for its Dundee telephone customers whose numbers begin with 468 on July 26.

Fulda’s summer Festival a fun weekend for all with a parade, kiddie parade and a car show among the highlights.

Crazy Daze to be held in Fulda on July 24th.

Marsha Cuperus and William Beyer were married at Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca on June 3rd with the Rev. Ron Allen officiating.

Jean Kolander and Tim Runkle announce their engagement. The couple is planning a November 4th wedding.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Reker announce the birth of their baby boy, Stewart Lee, born July 6. Paternal grandmother is Dorothy Reker.

Luella H. Johnson passed away Sunday, July 3rd at the age of 70 years old.

Ludwig E. Schmidt died June 30th at the Heron Lake Hospital at the age of 67 years.

Kristin Marie Bultmann, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bultmann, was born June 29th, passed away on July 6th at the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Jeremy Carlson, Bobbie Jo Bunkers, and Aimee Ommen.

Wednesday, July 13, 1988

Trachten Kapelle Elters/Rhon of Fulda, Germany, visit the Fulda area in grand style performing several times including in the Fulda city park. The band was here in conjunction with the Fulda Wood Duck Festival which was a huge success.

Jodi Chepa and Randy Rindfleisch were married June 25 at the First Lutheran Church at Dundee.

Karyn Aune and Roger Zins announce their engagement. An August 13th wedding is being planned.

Jim and Pam Fargen are proud to announce the arrival of Ashley Danielle, born July 8 at Sioux Falls, SD. Grandparents include Steven and Joanne Arends and Patricia Fargen.

Lori and Bob Mickelson are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Kelly Ann, born June 30th. Grandparents are Dorothy Reker, Ray Reker, and Marilyn Mickelson.

Rick and Colette Beckman are proud to announce the birth of a son, Jared Ronald, born June 28th. Grandparents are Walt and Rose Beckman and Ron and Delores Cantral.

Tim, Nancy and Jeremiah Jans announce the arrival of Joshua Timothy on July 11th. Grandparents are John and Joyce Jans and Rose and Walter Gehl. Great grandparents are Charles Law, Luella Barrett, Edna Jans, Lucille Fitch, and Mr. and Mrs. William H. Gehl.

On Sunday morning, June 19, 1988, Mae Kruger Gohr, passed away at the Lake Crystal Health Care Center. She attained the age of 85 years, end months and eighteen days.

Ada Lubben passed away on July 4th, 1988 at the age of 65 after being a patient at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for almost 2 months.

Bradley Carroll won the standing long jump at the Hershey State Track meet with a leap of 7’ 11 1/2”.

A Hershey State Track meet 1st place, also went to Jolene Ackerman in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of :32.91.

And Nancy Overman took 1st at the meet with a softball throw of 163’.

Roland Sandhurst catches a 5 pound Northern in Fulda’s Seven Mile Lake.

A highlight of the Wirock Horse show was the “Monkey on the Tree” in which the back participant must remain hanging on a rope while the rider circles the barrels.
