Josh Muecke, interim parks director, informed the Murray County Board of Commissioners about the aeration of the county lakes. Most have an oxygen level of five percent at 18 to 21 inches of ice. The readings are made each week and the oil changed in the aerators at the same time.

AMC, was quite upset with the Republican caucus who presented the redesign claiming it as their idea which originated at AMC. The board was invited to attend an ITV meeting at the Human Service building on Friday, February 19 for further discussing.
Margie Anderson and Ryan Beers updated the board on the use of the Escape Center for youth. There are 24 adults that volunteer as supervisors for a three hour shift once a month.The youth are encouraged to do service projects that have included collecting toys and decorating Valentine cookies for Golden Living Center, Lindenwood, and Sunrise Terrace. In March they will have a movie and pizza party with the proceeds to the WWII Honor Flight and at the end of the school year a dance will be held at the 4-H building with receipts going to help Haiti relief. Indirect benefits are providing a safe environment for the young people and encouragement to be better citizens.
Jean Christoffels presented, for approval, a public service announcement stating a permit is needed within 180 days for repairing buildings that were damaged during the recent snowstorms. The board approved the PSA and also waived the permit fee.
The board approved a payment of $1,385.10 for repair to his combine after it had picked up a silt fence that was outside the easement and in his field.
Lisa Saner was given over night attendance at the Annual Highway Account-ants Conference in Willmar, April 28-30.
A change in policy allowing up to $200 for steel toed safety boots for the mechanics at the highway department.
Randy Groves presented the cost of snow removal from December 1, 2009 to February 6, 2010 as $431,763.18. Nearly half of this amount is equipment costs and comes from the 1.1 million the county receives for maintenance. The December costs are in last year’s budget.
MNDOT will pay for all the installation of the lights to be placed at County Road #35 and Highway 30. The county is responsible for the monthly electrical fee.
Quotes for residing and new doors for the Olson arena will be opened on March 16 at 11:00 a.m. Volunteer labor is to be used for removing the present siding. A completion day is June 15.
A permit for a raffle was approved for the Shetek Area Sportsmans Association on May 22.
Amy Hoglin was given permission to apply for a Federal Recreational Trail Grant for sealcoating of the bike/pedestrian trail from End-O-Line Park to Lake Shetek State Park. |
