Thursday, October 4, 1962

Mrs. Anna (Stenzel) Buntger passed away at a Willmar hospital on Saturday. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic church in Dundee.

Lester West passed away after suffering with heart ailment for several years. Funeral services were held on September 4th in Riverside, California.

Leo Hohannes rites were held in Iona on Wednesday. Mr. Johannes passed away suddenly on Sunday.

William Carl Baumgard passed away on Sunday morning when the car he was driving missed a curve. Funeral services were held October 3rd.

Dean Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Johnson was playing with another boy in a recently filled silo in Dunee, when he went up the forty-foot chute using a decayed rope as a balance. The rope broke and Dean was catapulted down the chute to the bottom. He has a broken left heel and badly injured ankles.

The Homecoming slogan for this year “Let's Crack Walnut” was chosen because the Fulda Raiders play the Walnut Grove Loggers on Friday night. The Homecoming dance will follow the game.

Mr. and Mrs. Gus Knorr are the parents of a daughter born October 1st at Westbook. Her name will be Debbie Sue.

Thursday, October 7, 1982

Harald Vassal of Trondheim, Norway will make his home with Rev. Gary Clayton and his family for this school year.

Ted VandenBosch named Maple Lawn Resident of the Month.

Filing for City Council are Incumbent Wallyh Getzel, Emory Beckman and Syd Halverson. Filing for Mayor (unopposed) is incumbent Craig Shea.

The Fulda School Board set Levy Limitations for the year.

The fall clean up day has been set for October 26.

Lori Lanners and Rick Goedtke were united in marriage on September 18, 1982 at St. Columba church in Iona with Father Donald Zenk officiating.

Deborah Johnson and Bradley Paplow were married at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Avoca with Pastor Kenneth Kilheffer officiating on September 11th.

Married in Sacred Heart Church at Heron Lake on August 21st were Sharon Karschnik and Kraig Leopold.

Gerrit and Stella Cuperus are the proud parents of a son, Joshua, born September 26. Grandparents include Mrs. Margaret Transue and Mr. and Mrs. William Cuperus.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hakeneis celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday with a surprise celebration.

Jack Ramert caught an 8lb 11 oz Northern on Sunday in Keeley Island, Lake Shetek.

Murvle “Pop”Goins caught a 7lb Walley in Fulda's first Lake on Sunday.

The Teddy Bear Lady, Joyce Lanie, visited St. Paul's Lutheran School this week.

Anna Klein named Outstanding Young Adult by the Fulda Women of Today.

Boy Scouts of America held a flag burning ceremony at Seven Mile Park last Wednesday burning over 100 old flags.

The Fulda Hotel, a familiar building on St. Paul Avenue since 1885, will soon be demolished. The hotel was originally known as the West House.

Ed Baumgartner and Jim Riess received Safe Driver Awards as mail carriers from the National Safety Council Safe Driver Award.

Airman Paula M. Sauer graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Warren and Ruth Maertens celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 20th.

Citizens of tomorrow include Ashley, Kelsie and Corey Thiner, Tabitha and Brock Johlfs, and Tiffany Zins; and Katrina, Kody, and Krissa Kramer.

Arvid Kramer has been inducted into the Augustana hall of Fame for 1992.
