Flying Dutchmen fly past Raiders 60-22 Friday night

As the very cold game started Edgerton/Ellsworth onside kicked the ball and recovered.

In thirty short seconds and four plays Edgerton/Ellsworth scored 8 points.

Raiders returned the kick. As the Raiders kept moving the ball down field, they got to the 27 yard line; with short gains. Raiders got stopped at the 27 yard line and Edgerton/Ellsworth took over on down.

With 4:31 on the board Edgerton/Ellsworth gained a 44 yard touchdown run and continued with the two point conversion.

Raiders again moved the ball down field with Zach Holt and Trevor Ruesch maintaining the ball. Todd Peterson was going to connect with Nathan Getting but it was intercepted by Edgerton/Ellsworth.

Edgerton/Ellsworth moved the ball with long gains to the Raiders 28 yard line and then skipped in for a touchdown.

Raiders returned the ball to the 32 yard line. Gaining some yard but not enough to make a touchdown so the Flying Dutchmen took over.

With 48 seconds to go they pop into the endzone for 8. During the second quarter Trevor Ruesch ran 10 yards for a first down. Raiders controlled the ball most of the second quarter taking time to gain yards. The Flying Dutchmen gained eight more points at 4:59 remaining and at 1:25.

To begin the second half Raiders onside kicked the ball and Mason Trejo pounced on the ball to recover it for the Raiders.

At 9:39 Edgerton/Ellsworth ran in a 20 yard touchdown. Late in the third quarter the Flying Dutchmen had to fight for a 5 yard touchdown against the Raider defense. They gained the two point conversion also.

Raiders found the power in the fourth quarter with John Getting gaining a 16 yard run. Trevor Ruesch carried the ball for 25 yards into the house for 6. John Getting caught the pass from Todd Peterson for the two point conversion. After returning the kick the Flying Dutchmen fumble the ball and Nathan Getting recovered it for the Raiders. Trevor Ruesch broke many tacklers and ran for positive yardage of 35 yards. Raiders moved the ball down to the one yard line and Mason Trejo powerhoused the ball in for 6. John Getting made the two point conversion possible.

Raiders kicked the ball and Edgerton/Ellsworth returned it to the 34 yard line.

In the hands of the Flying Dutchmen the ball came loose on a play and Mason Trejo covered it up to recover for the Raiders. With only 33 seconds left in the game Mason Trejo ran 35 yards for a Raider touchdown.

Raiders are coached by Mike Pagel and Gregg Erdmann and assisted by Dan Blankenship.

Fulda will play Madelia in Madelia Friday night starting at 7p.m.
