At the Tuesday, November 13, 2012, the Fulda School Board approved the hiring of Jessica Hogan as the Assistant Basketball Coach for the 2012-2013 School Year.

They also entered into agreements with Sherri Boehnke, an independent consultant, to perform the duties of the Early Childhood Family Education Coordinator and Parent Educator from November 1, 2012, through May 31st, 2013.

Alice Spartz was approved as the Project Cope Director for the 2012-2013 school year.

The Fulda After Prom Party Committee was granted permission to hold various games (for profit) at halftime of the home boys and girls basketball games. They were also granted permission to sell concessions at the school play.

Fulda Elementary School Principal Mike Pagel reported that staff and students at the school had successfully conducted three fire and two lock-down drills. The Accelerated Reader program was reinstated. Kindergarten, first, second, fourth, and fifth grade classrooms each received 3 I-Pads. Staff members are training together to fully use available applications.

Fulda High School Principal Gregg Slaathaug reported that Motivation on Wheels, a 3-time paralympian would speak to all students on Thursday, November 15th, about the importance of staying positive and going after your dreams.

The production of the “Wizard of Oz” will be held on December 1 and 2nd in the Fulda Elementary Gym.

Superintendent Luther Onken reported that Bryan Lund has been hired as the Success Coach again this year. This is funded through the Nobles County Integration Collaborative.

The Board approved quotes from Prairie Insurance Agency for the Workers Compensation and Employer’s Liability Insurance.

Also approved was the District’s Fiscal 2012 Audit as performed by Turbes, Drealan, Kvilhaug, hoefker and Company, P.A.

The Resolution Canvassing Election Returns were also approved by the Board. A total of 1,881 votes were cast at the election for three school board members to four year term vacancies on the board. The vote counts were as follows: Tom Klein - 811, Linda Lund - 945, Christy Milbrath - 680, Don Tiesler - 793, and write-ins - 31. Tom Klein, Linda Lund and Don Tiesler were elected to four year terms beginning the first Monday in January 2013. Philip Kramer (1,079 votes) was elected to a two year term vacancy on the board beginning on the first Monday in January 2013.
