A campaign to eliminate scabies from Minnesota's $16 million a year sheep industry has been launched as of Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Onken are the parents of a daughter, Christy Kay born December 18th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Claussen and Mr. and Mrs. George Onken.

Mr. and Mrs. George Estrem are the parents of a son born on December 19th.

If you would like to develop a fine ulcer or perhaps a few heart problems, the Minnesota State Medical Association suggests that you make the following New Year's Resolutions: Resolve to forget everything but your job; work at the office on weekends and holidays; make it a rule to always have your brief case with you; learn to never say no to any request that might assist your career; remember that all forms of recreation are a waste of time; carry all the responsibility for everything yourself; remember that three quick Martinis before supper will help your appetite; ignore your doctor's advice. If you follow these suggestions you'll probably have your ulcer by the end of 1963, and a little high blood pressure as well.

A post Christmas blizzard causes power outages on the east side of Fulda for a few hours on Tuesday. The Fulda cable TV tower was also lost when its three upper sections toppled during the early morning storm that caried 50 MPH winds as it swept through the area.

The Department of Natural Resources reports that 56 permits have currently been issued to counties, municipalities, sportsmen's groups and others for the operation of aeration systems in lakes. The public is warned of possible thin ice on area lakes.

Shirlene Christians and Don Rolph announce their engagement.

Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bultmann are pleased to announce the birth of a son, Bryce Allan. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Wally Verdugt and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schmit.

Marguerite Toohey passed away unexpectedly on December 25th at the age of 74 years old.

James R. Morris passed away at the age of 45 years old on December 22, 1982.

Wednesday, December 30, 1992

The Murray County Sheriff's Department responded to a one-car rollover on December 28 six miles northeast of Slayton on County Road 38. Angie Holmes was pronounced dead at the scene. Injured and transferred to the hospital were Brad and Chad Wieskus, Sarah Ruesch, and Eric Bunkers.

The Fulda Fire Depaertment was called to an early morning barn fire at the farm site of Kevin Onken on Monday. The barn housing feeder pigs and sows was completely destroyed.

Citizens of Tomorrow are Adam and Chantal Fuchs, Christine Wieskus, Holly and Levi Zins and Mitch and Ben Clarke.

Elsie Bunkers passed away on December 23rd at the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 9 days.
