The cold wave, snow and blizzard conditions began here last Wednesday with the wind finally slowing down on Sunday. Temperatures tumbled beginning Friday with lows reaching 28 below on Tuesday with a high for the day of minus 6.
The temporary board of directors of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home Association will meet on January 28th to elect a regular board of directors.
St. Gabriel's Ladies Guild has donated $500.00 for the furnishings of a room in the new Nursing Home.
There will be a special meeting of all business and professional men and farmers interested in organizing a Lions Club in Fulda on January 24th.

Anton S. Lehnhoff was buried in Windom on Wednesday. Mr. Lehnhoff passed away on January 6th.

Anton Hager underwent surgery last Saturday. He is improving at home.

The Fulda Boy Scouts spend the day learning to snow ski at their weekend camp held at Lake Shetek.
Repair work on Fulda's Cable TV tower had been delayed because of the adverse weather conditions last week but is set for completion by January 20th.
The Fulda Legion Hall will be the place to be on Friday the 21st as The Sherwin Linton Show will provide music to dance to.
Dave Thiner rolled a 233 in bowling this week and was closely followed by Bimbo with a 211 and a 210.
The Fulda Raider girls defeated Truman 68-57 and outscored Slayton to bring the Nanny home with a score of 71-30.
Fulda Cooperative Oil Company wish to welcome two new employees…Ken Salentiny, bulk petroleum deliveries and sales, and Jan Michelau, bookkeeper.
Alois J. Nimerfroh passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on January 12th.

President Bush has declared January 24th a National Day of Prayer with a prayer service at Fort Snelling Chapel honoring POW/MIA veterans. A 29¢ stamp has been created in their honor with the words “You are not forgotten” printed on it.
Geography Bee held at St. Paul's Lutheran School and at the Fulda Public School.
The Fulda Fire Department paid tribute to volunteer fireman Don Welling last week during their annual banquet for over 21 years of service as a fireman.
A two-vehicle accident occurred at 12/25 on Friday afternoon on Murray County Hwy. 62 east of Fulda. Robert Dittman of rural Dundee, was driving a 1984 Ford pickup which sustained moderate damage. Irvin Onken, 70, Fulda, driving a 1992 Oldsmobile was a total loss after flipping several times. Miraculously neither man was severely injured.

Frank Dass passed away suddenly at his home on January 12 at the age of 86.

Harold Boos died November 26, 1992 at the age of 89 years old in Santa Rosa, California where he had been living with his daughter.
The Fulda Fire Department responded to a house fire in Avoca at the home of Robert Wahl. The fire is believed to have been started by an electric blanket.
The warming house at the popular Garvin Park north of Slayton was destroyed by fire on Monday, January 11th. It is suspected that a spark from the chimney started the fire.
