Fulda girls falls to third in Red Rock Conference The Raiders were tied for second place in the RRC with the Adrian Dragons going into the matchup Thursday night with an identical record of 6-1. Hoping to solidify sole possession of second place, the Raiders came out strong and played a very good game against Adrian. The game was close at the beginning. Sariah Cheadle had a stellar first half scoring the first four points for the Raiders. Adrian came back and went ahead scoring the next seven points to take an early lead 9-4. Amanda Schumacher hit a bucket and tied the score at 9-9. The teams would exchange baskets keeping the game close. Sariah Cheadle would score on 3 consecutive drives giving the advantage to Fulda by the score of 22-17. Rachel Cheadle put in the next 4 points followed by a scoring drive by Brittney Hermeling. The Raiders led by the margin of 28-17, this being the biggest lead for either team all night. The Dragons had a small run of their own, but Fulda took the lead into half time by the score of 34-28.

The second half would not go as well for the Raiders. Adrian held Fulda scoreless for the first four and a half minutes before Hermeling hit a three pointer to stop the Dragon attack. Fulda again went flat and Adrian tied the score at 37-37. Both teams battled to take the lead, the score would go back and forth a number of times. With 45 seconds left on the clock Adrian had a 3 point advantage. Rachel Cheadle would sink a basket to bring us within one. Fulda gets the ball back and attempts to take the lead but it just didnít work. Adrian wins the game 48-51.

Stats for the Raiders: Sariah Cheadle had 15 pts, Rachel Cheadle hit 10 points and 9 rebounds, Amanda Schumacher dropped 6 points and had 4 rebounds, Melissa Gehl had 5 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, Brittney Hermeling scored 5 points, 3 assists and 3 steals, and Myha Holinka added 3 points.





Raiders score 45 points in first half on way to victory Fulda 69 - Edgerton 45

Saturday night the Fulda Raiders hosted the Flying Dutchmen in a Red Rock Conference contest. The Raiders started out slowly allowing the Dutchmen to score the first six points of the game before Courtney Tiesler sank a basket with 16:31 left in the first period. Melissa Gehl and Rachel Cheadle each hit a bucket to help Fulda inch their way back into the game. With the score of 6-8, the Raiders were able to hold the Dutchmen scoreless for the next 5 minutes. Fulda capitalized and went on a twelve point scoring spree. Edgerton was never able to recover for the remainder of the evening. Sariah Cheadle had an excellent first half. She hit 4 three pointers and had 17 of her team high 22 points in the opening period.

Starting the second half with the score of 45-23 Melissa Gehl opened things up and scored a basket to extend our lead, followed by buckets from S. Cheadle, Courtney Tiesler (3 pointer) and a layup and free throw by Brittney Hermeling, which gave the Raiders a 53-23 lead. Edgerton scored two buckets and Fulda answered by holding them scoreless for the next three minutes. The Raiders enjoyed a 60-27 lead with 11:11 remaining in the contest. The Dutchmen outscored the Raiders 18 to 9 in the final minutes but Fulda walked away with the win by the score of 69-45.

Coach Slaathaug praised, "This team has been a complete joy to coach. The girls work hard every game and play as a team. We worked on our passing and defense in practice and they tried to execute them tonight. They did all the plays right and with more practice I know they will get better."

Scoring the for the Raiders: Sariah Cheadle 22, Courtney Tiesler 14, Rachel Cheadle 13 points, Melissa Gehl had 9, Myah Holinka 4, followed by Amanda Schumacher and Laura Williams each with 2.
