Sabin Oral Polio Clinic will be held in Fulda on Thursday, February 14th.

Postmaster Helweg is accepting applications for substitute clerk-carrier positions in the Fulda Post office.

Rite were held or Mrs. Emma Gleason on January 22 at the Presbyterian Church in Currie. Mrs. Gleason passed way on January 18th at the age of 82 years old.

Mrs. Haberman rites were held at St. Gabriel's on January 30th. Mrs. Catherine Haberman, 80, passed away on January 25th.

Baskets of mums, carnations and snapdragons adorned the altar at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for the wedding of Carolyn Busch and Robert W. Boomgarden, both of Fulda.

The engagement of Marie Redecker and Leo A. Maciolek has been announced. The couple will be married on February 23rd at Moline.

Raymond W. Kelley, 59, passed away January 25th at Napa, California.

The first officers of the newly formed Fulda Lions Club were elected at a meeting on January 24th; President Peter Lindquist; 1st V.P. Harold Nelson; 2nd V.P. Alex Fisher; 3rd V.P. Clifford Mansmith; Sec.-Treas. Tom Webb; Mion Tamer E. O. (Fritz) Reusse; Tail Twister George Estrem; directors include Walt Roti, Clem Smith, Vern Kirk and J. Frank Osborne.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Gieselman are the parents of a son born January 28th in Slayton. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Johnson are the parents of a son born January 27th in Slayton. Both Mrs. Gieselman and Mrs. Johnson are sisters of Mrs. (Cyril) Gieselman and Mrs. Phil Elskamp of Fulda.

Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Kleve are the parents of a daughter, Tamra born on January 13th. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kleve are the grandparents.

New books have recently been added at the Coburn Memorial Library including; “Mr. Sam” by Dwight Dorough; “A Spy in the U.S.A. by Powel Monat; and “Madam Will You Talk” by Mary Stewart.

The Fulda Theatre is closing its doors after 70 years due to lack of community interest. Owners Frank and Irma Schwantes are hoping for a buyer for the business, however if the business is not sold are considering other uses for the building such as an arcade or roller rink.

Murray County will receive $1,050,818 as its share of the $127,310,171 allocated to the 1983 County State-Aid Highway Fund.

The Fulda Fire Department answered fewer calls in 1982 with 14 rural and 15 city, of which five were false alarms at Centennial apartments.

Dave Worden and Bill Chepa found the Cabin Fever Days medallion this last week. This makes the third medallion found by Worden. One was found by Jamie Blesi and one remains elusive.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Danneman are the proud parents of a son, Scott Eric, born January 11th. Grandparents include Mrs. Herman Danneman and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jacobson.

Syd Halverson writes “On The Bright Side” sharing tidbits on cooking as well as special recipes.

G. W. Doc Schwarz is welcomed to the Citizens State Agency of Fulda, Inc. Also serving in the business is DeeDee Bestge and Larry Aanenson.

Alta M. Redenius passed away at the age of 85 on January 19th.

Simon Wand passed away unexpectedly at his farm home on January 22nd at the age of 81. Years old.

Ralph E. Mitchell spent 12 days in the Murray co. Hospital before passing away there on his 80th birthday on January 18th.

Harry A. Olsen passed away on January 30th at the age of 79 years old.

Alex J. Ramerth passed away at the age of 79 on January 26th.

George M. Highum, 63 died at the Hennepin County Medical Center on January 26th.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home are Ed Like, Ed Buschena, Pearl Ommen, Ed Denault, Mary Hager, and Belle Hart.

Fulda elementary first grade teachers Mrs. Sherri Boehnke and Mrs. Sue Olsem treated their students and their parents to a Hawaiian Luau despite the below zero temperatures of Minnesota.

Leo Voss, who served with the U.S. Marines in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967, is on a mission to bring home American prisoners of war. Voss is an advocate for POW/MIA issues and is speaking out about recent sighting and encourages citizens to write their senators and congressmen.

St. Gabriel's will host a Valentine's dinner theater with the play “True Blue and Trusted”.

Several students placed in the Business Professionals of America Region 8 Competitive Events were held at Marshall on Monday; Angie Reith, 4th in Banking concepts; Ann Kruger, 5th in document formatting; Tracy Hardekopf, 1st in Business Law, 3rd in Business Math and 5th in Office Assistant; Jolleen Weiner, 3rd in Banking concepts and 5th in Business Knowledge Skills; Rhonda Rehborg, 2nd in Banking Concepts; Tanya Weishalla, 1st in Banking Concepts; and Amy Kolander, 2nd in Promotional Display.

Featured in Senior Profiles are Brad Carroll and Garret Goedtke.

Debra Beckman and Todd Thraen exchanged vows on September 12th at Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church in Wilmont.

Melinda Lam and Mark Gerdes are pleased to announce their engagement. The couple is planning an April 3, 1993 wedding.
