| Fulda American Legion Auxiliary searching for Minnesota Girls State applicants |
The Fulda American Legion Auxiliary is searching for a Girls State candidate to attend Girls State on Sunday, June 9th to Saturday, June 15th, 2013, at Bethel U niversity in St. Paul, MN.
The American Legion Auxiliary Minnesota Girls State is a program for girls (citizens) to participate in learning the political processes at the local, county and state levels. It is a program that educates about good citizenship. The political processes that are learned are based on the State of Minnesota government featuring two political parties, the “Nationalists and Federalists”. The Judicial Branch is also practiced on local, county and state levels.
Participants in the American Legion Auxiliary Minnesota Girls State receive a greater understanding of Americanism; flag etiquette, veterans, our system of government; and develop leadership and pride as American citizens.
The Fulda American Legion Auxiliary encourages high school junior girls to apply to participate in Minnesota Girls State. The Auxiliary sponsors and pays the registration fee. They are asking that applicants submit a short essay explaining why they would like to attend Minnesota Girls State to Barb Kruger, 915 S. Lafayette Avenue, Fulda, MN, 56131 by March 7, 2013.
