Thursday, March 7, 1963

The Fulda Civic and Commerce Association is sponsoring the showing of the World Series at the City Hall on Monday evening March 11th at 8 o’clock. The public is invited to attend.

The Fulda Lions Club received it’s Charter in a ceremonies held in Fulda on Monday evening making them an official member of Lions International.

A.O. (Fred) Smith died in Texas where he had been spending the winter at the age of 73 years old.

Mrs. Anna Miller, mother of Mrs. Charles Holinka, underwent surgery on her foot on Thursday in Slayton.



Ted Olson is hospitalized in Worthington with a blood clot. Mrs. Olson underwent surgery at the hospital last week.

Marvin Kleve is still at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls for skin grafting.

The work will begin soon on the new telephone building in Fulda. The building will be located on Lafayette Street between Second and Third Streets.

Jim Drealan, was named to the February 28th WCCO Radios twelfth weekly All-State Basketball Team of the Week for the 1963 Minnesota high school basketball season.

Jim Hart and Gary Hindt wrestled in Region II competition at Mankato on February 23rd.

Robert Kolander has been elected to a three-year term on the Land O' Lakes board of directors and will represent District 4 encompassing a nine county area of southwest Minnesota.

Amanda Jorgenson is honored as resident of the month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Kindergarten roundup to be held March 18 in Fulda.

The Fulda City Council has issued a liquor licenses to the Fulda Bar at a cost of $4,400 per one year. Beer licenses were granted to Rich's Clover Farm, Jerry's Jack and Jill and Butch's Gulf for off sale. On sale was granted to Jan's Café and the American Legion. On and off sale licenses were granted to Frank's Fulda Rec and Beaver's Beer Barrel.

Mr. and Mrs. Anton Sturm celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner and an open house.

A daughter, Heidi, was born to Rev. and Mrs. Mark Christoffersen on February 23rd. Grandparents include Carl and Doris Christoffersen and Russell and Pat Hart.

Mary Lackner and Jerry Wisdorf are engaged. A May 14th wedding is planned.

Fulda Coach Loren Carlson has been named District 8 Girls Basketball Coach of the Year.

The Fulda girls team captured the District 8 Championship with a win over Hills-Beaver Creek.

Meta Kolander passed away after a lengthy illness at the age of 88 on March 3rd.

The Fulda Wood Duck Festival committee has set the dates for June 25-27 for 1993.

The Fulda Police Department has recently acquired a medical kit and oxygen tank, similar to those used by the Fulda Ambulance service, from southwest Emergency Medical Services. Police Chief Bob Harris and Officer Perry Kuehl obtained the equipment for 50 percent of the cost.

Featured in Fulda High School Senior Profiles this week are Chuck Paulzine and Jennifer Paulzine.

Merna Beckman passed away on March 3rd at the age of 92 years old.

Conrad Darger passed away after a lengthy illness on March 3rd at the age of 69 years old.

Philip Fury passed away unexpectedly at the age of 77 years old at his home on March 3rd.

Gilbert Dessonville is honored as resident of the month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Nancy Overman scored her career 1,000th point in the Sub-Section Championship game on Friday evening.

Fulda/MCC Warrior David Peterson placed second in the State Wrestling tournament. Ryan Mosely received third in his class.
