presents Spring Concert 2013
Four local bands took to the floor of the Fulda High School gym on Monday evening under the direction of Conductor Mike Peterson for their annual Spring Concert Performance.

Opening the program was the Stage Band with solos from Mallory Pagel, Clarinet, Todd Peterson, Trombone, Carmen Olsem, Trumpet, and Rachel Cheadle Piano in Sudden Sam by Nestico. Melissa Gehl performed a beautiful solo on her Sax during the bands performance of Hold On To Love. The final selection for the Stage Band was The Old Piano Roll Blues by Clarke with the dixieland combo being made up of Melissa Gehl, Mallory Pagel, Carmen Olsem, and Todd Peterson.

Next to perform was the very nervous 5th and 6th grade band. This age group continues to impress the audience year after year as they pick up their instruments for the first time and play in front of a large crowd. They played Variations by Balent and Hoedown by Davis.

The Junior High Band opened with Anchors Aweigh arranged by Cook which is always a favorite. Other selections by the Junior High Band were Trumpeter’s Holiday by Gingery, Saxophone Rag by Ployhar and Highlights from “The Wizard of Oz.”

The Senior High Concert Band made up of some 40 members performed Prelude, Siciliano, and Ronda by Arnold, the piece they will play at Large Group Competition on Tuesday. They also performed Peace Jubilee by King and Nearer, My God, to Thee arr. Brown and Emmet’s Lullaby by Holmes with a very impressive solo by Todd Peterson. The Concert Band wrapped up the program with Just a Closer Walk With Thee by arranged by Custer.

The Fulda band program will say goodbye to 13 band members this year as they graduate from high school.
