Thursday, March 28, 1963

Orrin Clarke attended the Wool Growers Association School in Minneapolis on March 18 and 19.

The Legion auxiliary is having a bingo party on Saturday evening, March 30 at the Legion Hall. The proceeds will go for the Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean McIntire are the parents of a baby girl born March 25. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gerber and Mr. and Mrs. C. H. McIntire are the grandparents.

A daughter, Renee Elaine, was born Wednesday to Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Evers.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tobin are the parents of a son born Wednesday of last week in Worthington.

Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Christianson attended the funeral of M. N. Christianson who passed away on Thursday evening after suffering with a critical illness in Houston, Texas.

Rites for Mrs. Helma Erickson were held in Avoca on Saturday. Mrs. Erickson passed away on March 20 at the Murray County Hospital.

Frank Wilmes was buried in Owens, Iowa. Mr. Wilmes lived in Dundee for a number of years before moving to Owens.

George Nigg, 92, passed away on Sunday in Tracy.

James Ramerth passed away on Tuesday at his home at the age of 56 years old.

LaDonna Comnick and A 3C James Hochstein are engaged to be married. A May wedding is being planned.

Mrs. Bernard Knuston underwent major surgery in Rochester but is home now.

The new phone number for all emergencies in Cottonwood County is 911. Other counties recently receiving the 911 emergency system include Dundee, Fulda, and Heron lake.

Stockholders of the Farmers Cooperative Commission Company and the Fulda Coop Oil Company held a meeting to discuss the possibility of a consolidation - the vote will be held on April 22nd and if it passes would take place on July 31st.

A special meeting to discuss the Fulda Cable TV System drew about 25 people on Monday night with the main complaint being poor reception.

Interstate crews are in the process of replacing a number of old poles in the west side of Fulda. At the same time they are re-insulating the west part of Fulda, which is a step towards raising the primary voltage to the same level as on the east part of the city. The entire project is projected to take several years to complete.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn include Margaret Becker, Edith Montgomery, Marie Niebor, Mary VanAltvorst, Henrietta Gunderman, Dorothy Ramert, Lillian Nelson and Frances Saner.

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Heger announce the birth of a daughter, Abby, born in Worthington. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Heger and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schwab.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Fiedler proudly announce the birth of a daughter, Geneau Bernette, born in Worthington. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Fielder and Mrs. Bruce Haupin.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Meier announce the birth of Elizabeth Ann born in Worthington. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Kainz.

Diane Oolman set an Individual Indoor School Record in the 400 Meter Run with a time of 61.6 seconds at the Mankato State Fieldhouse.

Funeral services for Genevieve Gravett were held on March 17th.

Edward A. Ommen passed away March 26th after a length illness at the age of 70 years old.

Irena J. Hartle passed away on March 26th at the Murray County Hospital at the age of 70 years old.

Chalk one up for the little guy and small towns! It's been a tough fight, but we won! After closing a year ago, several letters to senators and the Postmaster General, phone calls, and petitions a letter to re-establish the post office with two hours per day has been received. The service will depend on locals patronizing the post office making it a successful operation.

Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced plans to resurface highway 62 from Fulda to Windom which is scheduled for September and will result in traffic delays.

Three candidates filed to fill the two positions for election to the Fulda School Board; Shirley Buschena, Marvin Isder, and Richard Paplow.

Leann Enninga shared language, culture and traditions of Mexico with members of Mrs. Holden's kindergarten class this week.

Spelling Bee held at the Fulda Elementary School.

Dan Bierma was selected as FFA District 11 and Region 6 Sheep Production Proficiency Winner for 1992.

Viola Eichten passed away at the age of 83 years old on March 25th.

Gertrude Irma Irene Schwarz passed away March 26th at the age of 62 years old after suffering for years with heart problems.

Nicole Brandt and Jason Larsen announce their engagement. The couple is planning a May 8th wedding.

Amy Schuur and Todd Their announce their engagement. A July 24th wedding is being planned.

Brad and Shari Partyka are the parents of a daughter, Leah Kristine born March 18th. Grandparents include George and Ella Lober.
