By Norma Dittman, Fulda Free Press staff writer
At a special Fulda City Council meeting held on Friday evening, the council voted to hire Gass Trenching, Johnson Tree Service, and Peschges Tree Service to clean up tree debris caused by the April ice storm.

Based on a recommendation from Butch Huerkamp, Gass Trenching was hired to provide a side-dump truck at $125 per hour, a 15 yard MAC dump truck at $75 per hour, a back hoe with grapple at $100 per hour, and a skid loader at $100 per hour.

Johnson Tree Service was hired to provide a skid loader, boom truck, two dump trucks and four people at $150 per hour.

Peschges Tree Service was hired to provide a boom truck and one ground man at $150 per hour.

The council also voted to hire Quality Tree Service, Lansing, Iowa, to cut hanging branches from the trees in the city’s three parks (Fulda City Park, Veterans Memorial Park, Eichten Park) at a cost of $2,350.00.

Resolution 2013-01 was adopted which states that the City of Fulda will remove all public and private (residential) tree debris created by the storm if it is placed into the boulevard area along the city streets before April 29th. The final day of debris pickup will be Friday, May 3, 2013. City workers will not enter private property to remove tree debris.
