The Fulda Fire Department was called to a barn fire at 34700 130th Avenue, Graham Lakes Township, at 2:45 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

According to 1st Assistant Chief David Baumhoefner, hay bales stored in the east shed of the metal tri-complex on the farm may have spontaneously combusted. “The property owner was notified by a passer-by that the shed was on fire. When we arrived at the scene, we found that the east shed had collapsed and the north shed was collapsing. There was some damage to the northeast end of the machinery storage building,” Baumhoefner said.

Brewster Fire Department was called in for mutual aid. “Between the two departments, we had ten or twelve fire fighters who got the fire knocked downed. We re-paged at five thirty for additional man power because we knew that some of the fire fighters who work out of town would be back in town. When our trucks came back for water, they would pick up the additional personnel,” Baumhoefner stated.

The Fulda Fire Department was re-paged to the scene at 10:11 a.m Tuesday morning due to a building that was smoking.
