2014 Fulda Wood Duck Festival Committee seeking theme

October 23, 2013

By Norma Dittman
Fulda’s 2014 Wood Duck Festival Committee is seeking a theme...and they are looking to the public for suggestions.

The Committee is is asking that theme ideas be submitted to the Fulda Free Press no later than Friday, November 1st, 2013.

“We are planning to build the 2014 Fulda Wood Duck Festival on what we started this year with local games provided by the schools and churches, civic and service groups and organizations. At this point, we are not planning on bringing in a big carnival. We are planning more activities such as a teen dance and are keeping the focus on the fact that it will be more of a local festival,” Dan Uttech, 2014 Fulda Wood Duck Festival Committee chairman, explained. “We are hoping to find a theme that centers on the celebration being a local festival.”

The 2014 Wood Duck Festival Committee began meeting immediately following this year’s festival and are meeting one time per month to plan the upcoming festival. “We want to be able to get the festival buttons and T-shirts done earlier and the only way we can do that is to have a theme and logo in place early,” Uttech said. “It’s not too early to get started.”

The committee is seeking to involve many area people in the planning of the 2014 Fulda Wood Duck Festival, Uttech said. “We will be meeting in the very near future with coaches and advisors at Fulda High School to encourage them to have a game booth and raise money for their own club or team. We think that it is a good thing for our young people to learn about what has to happen to make a festival happen, and how they can help to make it happen. It gives them a them a foundation of the planning and business aspects of a hometown festival.”

Again, 2014 Fulda Wood Duck Festival theme ideas may be submitted to the Fulda Free Press no later than 4 p.m., Friday, November 1st, 2013.
