Elfrieda Bertha Ohlenkamp, the daughter of August and Bertha (Rathke) Ohlenkamp, was born on August 15, 1928 in Fulda, MN. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Elfrieda was united in marriage to Fred Gerdes on January 15, 1948. After their marriage they lived near Fulda before moving to a farm near Brewster, MN. She remained at home after Fred passed away in 1976. Elfrieda married Clarence Ohlenkamp on August 14, 1976 and they made their home in Canby, MN until 1980 when they moved to New London, MN. She returned to Fulda after Clarence passed away in 1987. Elfrieda passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 85. She was a member of Pfingsten Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda where she belonged to W.E.L.C.A. and was head of the Funeral Committee for many years. Elfrieda also belonged to the Fulda Pink Ladies. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, word searches, cards and her cats.

Survivors include her children, Robert Gerdes of Brewster, MN and Anita (Dale) Holmes of Fulda, MN; grandson, Sterling (Erin) Holmes of Box Elder, SD; 2 great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Kiernan Holmes of Box Elder, SD; 6 step-children, Karen Kockelman, Danny (Elaine) Ohlenkamp. Dianne (Dick) Menkin, Roy (Diane) Ohlenkamp. Shirley (Ken) Campbell and Terry Ohlenkamp; many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, daughter Shirley Gerdes, granddaughter, Angela Holmes and brother, August Ohlenkamp Jr.

Funeral Services at Pfingsten Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 with Rev. Rachel Wrenn officiating. The organist is Ron Janssen. The pallbearers are Mark Ohlenkamp, Alan Oberloh, Lyle Oberloh, Keith Oberloh, Lonnie Leebens and Roger Leebens. Interment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Brewster, MN.
