Thursday, April 23, 1964

Filings for positions on the Board of Education, Independent School District No. 505, opened on Monday, April 20th. Members whose terms expire this year include Harold Brandt, Alvin Goins, and J. B. Miranowski.

Judy Clark and Robert Fowler were married on Saturday, April 11th, in Sherman, SD.

Carolyn Gaul and Lloyd Erpelding were united in marriage on Saturday, April 4th, at St. Columba Catholic Church in Iona.

Alvina Kass and Gary Beckman were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, April 18th.

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Saxhaug are the parents of a son, Shane born April 9th.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Holinka are the parents of a son born Tuesday, April 21st, in Slayton.

Orville Ruesch is in Sioux Valley Hospital for spinal surgery. Neighbors have come to his farm to help with planting crops and doing chores.

Mrs. Mary Appel submitted to major surgery on Thursday in Slayton and is coming along nicely.

The local fire department was called to the Village dump ground on Thursday afternoon to extinguish a fire, which had gotten out of control.

George Johnson had the misfortune of having an accident while helping his uncle Erling Johnson in Shakopee on Sunday. While working, a nail flew striking George in the eye. He is currently at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis.

Thursday, April 26, 1984

On a three to two vote the Fulda City Council adopted a new Public Safety Commission last Thursday night. Originally planning on establishing a Police Commission, the council decided on a Public Safety Commission, which encompasses the Police Department as well as the Fire Department and Ambulance Department.

School Board filings closed Tuesday with four persons filing for two seats. Terms expiring were Shirley Buschena and Dale Burmeister. Filing were Shirley Buschena, Dale Burmeister, Voris Spittle and John Maertens.

Rosie Schweigert discovered an inflated balloon by her mailbox Monday morning when she was out jogging. Upon close examination she discovered it came from Highland, Michigan.

Bardene Sowards and Dale Dilly announce their engagement. A July 21st wedding is planned.

Joselin Schwarz and Lee Palls were married on March 11th in Reno, Nevada.

Wednesday, April 27, 1994

Five file for three Fulda school board seats; Debra Horne, Randy Kremer, Mike Loosbrock, Richard Paplow, and Mike Zins.

Dennis and Deb Appel to open Appel's Hardware this week. The Appel's purchased the business from Marv and Ardyce Schreiber on April 25th.

A conditional permit for a feedlot was granted to Craig Pfeiefer while a second was denied to Wayne Freese by the Murray County Planning and Zoning Commission.

The Fulda Fire Department responded to a brush fire at the former Bernard Murphy farm southeast of Fulda last Sunday.

ReNae Kaelberer was named Outstanding Member of the Year at the District 17 Women of Today spring meeting.

Fulda High School senior profiles include Matthew David Kellen and Douglas Schipper.

The Raider girls track team took first place at their home Invitational this passed Tuesday. Kelli Koch set a new school record in the triple jump with a leap of 32'7” and Nancy Overman set a record in discuss with a toss of 150'11”.
