The Worthington Country Club was the site of the Section 3A South golf tournament this past Wednesday.

Fulda had won the subsection the past two years in a row but knew it would be tough this year with the addition of Windom to Class A and a strong team from Adrian.

The Raiders finished in 3rd place as Windom won the tourney with an outstanding score of 366 followed by Adrian with 423. Fulda scored 447 on the always tough Country Club but finished ahead of Westbrook-Walnut Grove (470), Southwest United (487)and Murray County Central (488).

Kelsey Hanefeld from Windom was the medalist with a nice score of 86.

The top five medal winners all scored 95 or less.

Katie Reynolds led the Raiders with rounds of 53/50 for a 103. Katie only parred one hole but did pick up eight bogeys on the day.

Brittany Leinen struggled to find her putting stroke, parred one hole and bogeyed five holes and had rounds of 54/51 for a 105.

Katie and Brittany both qualified for the Section tournament with those scores as Katie finished in 7th place out of 32 golfers and Brittany finished in 11th place.

Claire Westra finished in 17th place with an 18 hole score of 118 while Nicole Sauer finished in 20th place with a 121.

Amber Breuker and Brandi Spies gained some valuable tournament experience on a tough course with scores of 131 and 136 respectively. Amber and Brandi were two of only three 8th graders golfing in the tournament.

Katie and Brittany now head to the Marshall Golf Club for the Section tournament which be held on Wednesday, May 28.

Good luck girls!
