E. O. ‘Fritz’ Reusse announces his intent to file for State Legislature. Reusse, 64, is a native of Murray County and is widely known throughout Southwest Minnesota as Manager of Ruesse Furniture Store in Fulda which he operated for more the 30 years.

Wm. Sanow, driving a Land o’ Lakes milk truck, was going west on a gravel road when he was hit from the south by Andy Hanson, a rural Heron Lake mail carrier. Both men were severely hurt and remain unconscious in the Heron Lake Hospital. Both vehicles were badly damaged.

The City Band, under the direction of Philip Norrdin, will give a concert in the park on Monday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Greenfield announce the engagement of their daughter, Karen Greenfield to Darold Ommen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew G. Ommen. No date has been set.

Jeanette Tolzin and Douglas Beckman were married at St. paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda on June 10th with Rev. E. W. Steinhorst officiating the double ring ceremony. 

Mrs. Anna Diekmann, age 90, died at her home in St. Kilian on June 14th. Funeral services will be held Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Becker are the parents of a daughter, Diane born Friday, June 10th.

The Fulda Giants loose to Pipestone Indians on Sunday with a score of 7-5.

With the summer upon us, residents are asked to keep water sports hazards and life saving skills in mind. 

The Minnesota State Medical Association says to follow the rule-of-thumb when rescuing a drowning person… 1. Use the speediest way to get to the victim like a boat or skiff; 2. Throw a life preserver, life jacket or an inflated inner to the victim; 3. If you are trained go to the aid of the struggling person yourself but be careful not to be pulled under. 

It’s also important to be courteous on the water while boating… 1. Don’t overload the boat; 2. Don’t stand up in the boat; 3. Don’t sail to close to other boats; 4. Don’t jump from a moving boat; 5. Pass by anchored boats at a minimum speed only.

Immanuel American Lutheran Church to observing 100 years with a celebration on June 23 and 24. Everyone is welcome to join in the Centennial festivities.

Carissa Hopkins, Ashley Frazee and Chelsey Frazee performed their dance routines for residents of Maple Lawn last week. The three dancers are members of a troup from Worthington.

Deb Beckmann has been chosen as Nobles County Dairy Princess for 1990 year.

The Fulda High School Raider Marching Band defeated 6 bands to bring home the win at Windom’s Riverfest Parade on Saturday.

A special school board meeting held June 5th ran into the evening as the discussion concerning the gym floor became lengthy.

Chad Carroll takes fourth place at State in the 800 meter run.

John and Pat Uittenbogaard announce the engagement of their daughter, Chris to Dr. Gregory Curtis, son of Monte and Marge Curtis. An October wedding is planned.

Elizabeth Heyen passed away on June 5th at the age of 81 years old.

Dorothy Bender, 85 years old, passed away June 3rd at her home.

Fulda experiences nearly golf ball size hail as storm moves through Monday evening. According to Extension Officials at press time, the hail seemed to have been isolated to just Fulda.

Troy Reed of Good Times Bar and Grill in Fulda recently competed in the Bullshooter World Champions Dart Tournament in Chicago. Marty Koster also qualified for the tournament in Chicago.

Fulda Wood Duck Festival will be held this weekend, June 16, 17, and 18. Don’t miss the big parade on Saturday!

The Fulda School Board has narrowed the field for the position of new high school principal from 19 to 6. The elementary principal position has been offered to Elizabeth (Betty) Abrahamson.

A parent informational meeting on all day every day kindergarten was held on Monday with close to 100 concerned residents attending.

Mary Christianson and Bruce Ommen announce their engagement. A July wedding is planned.

Walter Ruesch will celebrate his 80th birthday with an open house on June 18th at the Corral in Fulda.

Father Clayton J. Haberman will celebrate his 50th year as a priest with a mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake on June 25th.

Lydia Hanson is honored as Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Adam and Yvonne VanOort are proud to announce the birth of their son, Niclas born June 5th.

Abigael Kathryn made her entrance into the family on June 11th at a Chicago hospital. The first child of Kim and Chris Ramert, Abigael is welcomed by grandparents Mark and Cindy Ramert and John and Kathy Elskamp.

Bill Carl Hinderer passed away on June 10, 2000 at the age of 92 years old.

Jenna Wendorff grabs third place in the shot, Kris Magnussen takes sixth in the pole vault  at the state track meet.
