The Loyalty Day observance to be held on Sunday is sponsored by the VFW and will include a parade and program.

Mrs. Ken Miller arrived here last week from Morris, Minnesota and has the Cottonwood Drive In open for business. Husband Ken is employed in Morris.

An accident Sunday morning might have ended in tragedy, but the result was only a badly soaked car. Simon Koning, 18, was traveling west of Fulda when he notice a hub cap come loose from the car. In watching it roll away, he lost control of the car rolling over once and landing on its wheels at the bottom of the creek 2 ½ miles west of town. Simon managed to escape the car before it became submerged.

Filings open on Monday, April 18th for the 505 School District election to be held on May 17th. The terms of Ray Crowley and Fred Behr are open.

The altar banked with baskets of variegated flowers at American Lutheran Church in Avoca provided the setting for the marriage of Viola Engelkes and Marvin Storm on Saturday, April 23rd.

Mr. and Mrs. John W. Gundry will be honored at an open house for their Golden Anniversary on May 1st.

Eileen Vande Water and John Tuseth were married on April 14th at North Como Presbyterian Church in Roseille.

Miss Susan Penrod and M. James Sneer were united in marriage on Saturday, April 23rd at the First Presbyterian Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Cullen are the parents of a son born April 22nd. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Jorgenson.

A daughter was born April 23rd to Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hartle. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schumm.

The Marine Recruiter will visit Fulda on May 4th.

History of Convent Baseball dates back to the 1920’s in Fulda. Members of one of the earliest teams included Joe Fitzgerald, Ted Harsht, Pete Meyer, Frank Wisdorf, Dick Durnam, Leo Hogan, Barnie Boos, Joe Norris, Jimmie Dolan, Emery Brady and Jay Schueller.

The Fulda Fire Department responded to a fire at the Roland Buschena farm that completely destroyed a building on Friday afternoon.

Tony Greenfield was selected to attend Boys State to be held on the campus of St. John’s University in June.

Featured in ‘Focus on FFA’ this week is Lloyd Winter, an Alumni, who helps coach the FFA Dairy Cattle Team. Lloyd was active in FFA while in high school from ’67 to ’70. His daughter, Angie, a current member of FFA, will serve next year as the first female Fulda FFA Chapter President.

Faith Guggisberg and Kenneth Johnson are engaged to be married. An August 4th wedding being planned.

Marti Sturm and Todd Sauer announce their engagement. A June 23rd wedding is planned.

Lisa Baumhoefner and Randy G. Johnson announce their engagement. The couple is planning June 23rd wedding.

Ervin (EF) and Wima Haberman will be honored on their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house on April 28th.

Pastor Mark and Margaret Yackel-Juleen are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth, born April 21st. Grandparents include John and Eleanor Yackel and Rick and Bernice Juleen.

Speech Team captures second consecutive Region ll Speech title.

Jason Larson will be honored at the Eagle Court of Honor to be held on April 29th. Jason’s Eagle Scout project was the restoration of the flags for business and private homes put up and down by the Fulda Scout Troop on every legal holiday.

Fulda School Board considering ‘All Day Every Day Kindergarten’ stating that children’s brains are more absorbing at that age and that they need consistency in learning.

Deputy Dakota, a law enforcement dog, joins the ranks of the Murray County Sheriff’s Department.

A goal of one million pop tabs was met by students at the Fulda Elementary School. The tabs will go help support the Ronald McDonald House Project.

A good old fashioned Easter egg hunt was held this past weekend complete with a visit from the Easter Bunny himself.

The Fulda Fire Department were called to dose a fire in a wildlife area in Belfast Township on Monday evening.

Featured in Fulda High School Senior Profiles this week are Jenefer Lavoie and Crystal UitdeFlesch.

City-wide Rummage Sale to be held May 14th.

Esther Jenkins is honored as Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.

Bernice Worden to celebrate her 80th birthday with an open house on May 6th.
