Maker Fun Factory: Created by God, Built for a Purpose was the theme of this year’s Vacation Bible School held at First Presbyterian Church Monday, July 31st through Thursday, August 3rd.

With the sanctuary decorated to look as through it was an experiment laboratory, opening exercises each evening were led by Mary Winter, along with Lloyd Winter, as they taught the students new songs and Bible verses.

Each day had its own theme Bible Point, Key Bible Verse and Bible Story. The theme’s for each day were accompanied by a memorable companion such as Decker, the Decorator Crab, Tina the Cathedral Termite, Bubba the Humpback Whale, Skyler, the Bowerbird, and Abbee the Bee. These companion  characters were designed to reinforce the students’ recall of the Bible verse and story each day. Decker’s Bible Point was “God made you.” The verse that accompanied the point was  “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex,” from Psalm 139:14.  Decker’s Bible story was the story of God creating the world and all that He placed within it.

Songs learned also reinforced the Bible points and stories. Some of the song titles were Made for This, Love Come Down, He’s Got the Whole World, I Have a Maker and God Is For Me.

Each evening’s VBS session also included a meal and games  and many laboratory assistants who helped to make sure all was running smoothly and efficiently.
