Blankenship achieves 75th win at Parker tourney

Dawson Blankenship wrestling at 106# leads off the tournament wrestling Lucas Hueser from Elk Point/ Jefferson.  Dawson started the tournament with a take down on Lucas and was leading the match going into the 2nd period.  Lucas started on top in the second period and would not let Dawson up.  Dawson lost via fall and moved into the consolation bracket.  Next up, Dawson drew a forfeit to advance to the second round of wrestle backs.  Dawson’s next opponent was from Kings County.  Dawson took Dylan Zell down and wasted no time putting his opponent to his back.  Dawson went into the second period against Dylan and Dawson put him to his back and pinned Dylan.  Dawson was then slated against Lane Huls.  Dawson stepped on the mat and took Lane down and pinned his McCook opponent in the first period.  Dawson then drew a Howard opponent, Drew Genzlinger, that he lost to at the Parkston Tournament last week. Dawson lined up against Drew and wrestled tough.  Dawson went ahead 2-1 in the third period and chose down.  Drew tried turning Dawson and was unsuccessful. Dawson avenged his loss last week to win the match move on to the 3rd place match.  Since Dawson wrestles for a team from Minnesota he is only allowed to wrestle 5 matches in a day.  He ended his day with a 4th place finish.

Next up for the Warriors was 120# Danny Blankenship.  Danny drew a forfeit first round of the tournament.  Next up for Danny was the 5th seeded wrestler from Tea, South Dakota.  Danny took no time taking control of his opponent.  Danny and his opponent Devin Pence wrestled into the 2nd period before Danny pinned Devin.  Next up for Danny was Zac Fowler from Elk Point Jefferson.  Danny fell behind the #2 state ranked wrestler before he mounted a comeback.  Danny ended up losing to his foe 9-7.  Danny moved into the consolation bracket to wrestle Isaac McDugle.  Danny took control of Isaac and never gave into the Parker wrestler.  Danny won via technical fall.  Danny was then slated against Alec Dobson from Kings County who was the #3 seeded wrestler.  Danny went out and took Dobson down and put him to his back.  Danny controlled Dobson the whole match and Danny ended up winning 12-2.  Danny placed 3rd at the tournament.  Danny also attained his 75th career win at the tournament.  Congratulations Danny!
