Busy week for Warrior wrestlers

Warrior varsity team takes on quad in Flandreau

Another very busy week for the Fulda/MCC Warrior wrestling team as the varsity team traveled to Flandreau, SD for a triangular  on Tuesday, January 28th, and took on the Flandreau Fliers and lost 33-48,  and then Quad county where the team fell 36-38. Denver Ash in his first match of the night took and early lead and ended up pinning Tarren Rupp in a well placed spladle.  The next win came with Kadin Keuhl in the third period against Javier Jackson after a long tough match Javier fought off everything Kadin threw at him until finally the inside cradle stuck him.  Next up was Rylan Behnke and Richard Vaughn when after a scoreless 1st period the scoring started early in the second as Rylan began on bottom and earned the escape then took Richard down later in the period and held him down with a tight reverse half with an arm bar.  After a tough loss by Christian Kuball who wrestled a tough match against Jack Howard when he got pinned late in the second period, Keigan Behnke was up against Jaselen Jimenez.  Keigan dominated this match as he got the first takedown, but it wouldn’t be until the 2nd period that Keigan would finally finish his opponent with a deep knuckle roll half.  After Ryder Henning pinned Evan Friese in 25 seconds the score was 36-34, next was Koyer Wendorff and boy did he wrestle Koyer went up against Austin Sweco appropriately nicknamed “Swede”.  This was quite the match as this kid as a 9th grader was built like “The Swede” from “Heartbreak Ridge” starring Clint Eastwood.  Koyer went the distance with Sweco although Koyer didn’t win he also didn’t give up.  This was a great showing by Koyer as he showed some real character.
