Hills-Beaver Creek edged Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda last Friday (February 21) in a very closely-contested C-Squad boys basketball game at Okabena, winning by a final score of 40-38.
HLOF, led by eight points from Rylan Klein, held a two-point halftime lead (23-21). Five players scored for the Coyotes in that exciting first half, as Mason Bode (five), Ethan Gilman (four), Evan Madsen (three) and Logan Gass (three) combined for 15 more points.
Missed free throws by the Coyotes in the second half helped the Patriots complete their second-half rally. HLOF was a mere five-of-16 (31 percent) at the line for the game, including going just four-of-12 (33 percent) in the second half.
