Impromptu concert brightens Maple Lawn residents’ day

With a desire to give back to the community where she grew up, Patricia (Halverson) Hollister and her husband, Ric, presented an impromptu concert for the residents at Maple Lawn Senior Care Center. The concert took place last Tuesday on the patio at the nursing home.

Patricia and Ric are members of the well-known rockabilly band, Jack Knife and the Sharps, which was started by Ric a number of years ago. “We are laid off right now because of the COVID-19 orders,” Patricia stated. “We live in the cities, but came down here to help my mother, Syd, who is having a few mobility issues right now.”

When asked how the 45-minute impromptu concert at Maple Lawn Senior Care came about, Patricia said, “We played a concert indoors at the nursing home before. We called Annette Kremer, who is the Activities Director there and told her what we would like to do, and she was very happy to help us orchestrate the concert,” Patricia shared.
