In memory of Jerome Hogan

1962-JEROME HOGAN-2017

Jerry Hogan, 54, of Sioux Falls, SD, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 26, 2017, at his home.  Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2017, at First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Falls.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the family to be placed into an education fund for Riley and Jaxon.

Jerome (Jerry) Paul Hogan, son of Leo and Agnes (Holinka) Hogan was born November 18, 1962 in Slayton, Minnesota. The family lived in Dundee, MN and Jerry attended school in Fulda, MN, where he graduated high school in 1981.  He met his future wife Teena Metzger at a March of Dimes Fundraiser.  They were married in Lester, IA, on April 19, 1997.  They were blessed with two sons: Riley and Jaxon.  Family meant the world to Jerry and he was always there to help them at a moments notice.  He instilled a love of sports into his boys and spent many hours coaching and watching them in their sporting events.  He always kept a positive attitude with everyone he encountered and taught the boys to be the same.  He had an amazing sense of humor and was always quick with a dad joke or witty one liner.  He had a smile that could light up any room.  He always put others before himself.  Jerry was a member of First Christian Reformed Church where he served as a deacon.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Teena of Sioux Falls; sons, Riley and Jaxon of Sioux Falls; mother, Agnes Hogan of Fulda, MN; siblings, Mike (Mary) Hogan of Windom, MN, Kathy Hogan of Eagan, MN, Peggy Castelaz of Aurora, IL, and Gary (Dana) Hogan of Fulda, MN; siblings-in-law, Sherri (Sam) Nenadov of Northbrook, IL, Wendal (Nichole) Metzger of Whittemore, IA, Randal (Kim) Metzger of Livermore, IA, Brice (Sara) Metzger of Algona, IA, Dixie (Kris) Messner of Cedar Falls, IA, and Tory (Jadeyn) Metzger of Algona, IA; and parents-in-law, Leland (Kathy Fehr) Metzger of Whittemore, IA.  He was preceded in death by his father, Leo.
