Knights race past Coyotes, 63-29

Starting the first half with an 11-2 run, the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights took command early and rolled to a 63-29 victory over the Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes in a non-conference high school girls’ basketball game last Saturday night (February 15) at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.

HL-O/F is now 4-21 overall and finished the regular season with a game at Red Rock Central on Monday.

The Coyotes were seeded sixth in the Section 3A South tournament and will play third-seeded Adrian/Ellsworth Saturday in Worthington at 4:00 p.m.

R-T-R converted multiple turnovers into scoring opportunities and crashed the offensive boards for several second and third shots against the Coyotes.

“Their press caused us a lot of issues,” Coyotes head coach Andy Oakland said. “They were also aggressive on the offensive glass. We had too many turnovers and not enough rebounds, once again.”
