Murray County Commissioners discuss camping, race track and opening government buildings

Heidi Winter, auditor/treasurer, presented the board the request from Key Largo for a liquor license from the 2020 license period of May 7, 2020 to May 6, 2021 along with an on and off sale Sunday liquor. This was approved by the commissioners contingent upon receipt of all paperwork and payments received in the office of the auditor-treasuer.

Winter also shared information regarding the lease extension for driver exam station. The lease authorizes a three year extension to the Department of Public Safety, Driver and Vehicle Services for the use of the courts building meeting room as driver exam station effective July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2023. This was approved by the board.

Discussion took place regarding the HVAC system. Winter stated none of the bids came in on time gave the board the options including not moving forward with the project or to re-bid this spring for fall construction. It was agreed to continue working with Dunham and move forward, possibility with the elimination or revision of the “walk-through” requirement.

Administrator Burke shared with the number of staff working from home, the building is bare at times so feels a walk-through wouldn’t really be an issue even with the pandemic going on.

Travis Radke, ditch inspector, presented six petitions including JD02, Lime Lake Twp., JD20A, Shetek Twp., JD07 Fenton Twp., CD 46, Leeds Twp., JD 20 Bondin Twp., JD 16, Cameron Twp. All petitions were given the nod from the commissioners. Commissioner Gunnink questioned Radke to see if anything is being done with the Lake Wilson Park. Radke said that  he would make contact and see what can be done.
