Thursday, Feb. 18, 1960

Nearly 200 women and their daughters attended the Mother/Daughter Tea at the Presbyterian Church in Fulda on Tuesday evening under a “Hearts and Flowers” theme.

A new post office will be built in Iona at a location just west of the Iona Hotel on the north side of Grace Street.

The Fulda Cafe is receiving a face-lift. The new proprietors, “Day” and Art Becker will be open for business on February 22nd.

Mrs. Carl Buschena, from California, wrote a nice letter to the editor this week saying how she enjoys Mrs. Sell’s column “Let’s Share”. She also, enclosed a cake recipe to add to the collection.

Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Nelson are the parents of a son born February 10th.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rasmussen are the parents of a son, Daniel born on February 7th. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gehl are grandparents.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fiedler are the parents of a son, Bruce, born February 11th.

Mr. and Mrs. Loren Heger are the parents of a son born February 8th.

Paul H. Helweg, former Fulda resident, passed away at his home in Roseburg, Oregon, on February 12th.

Nels Ausin rites held February 17th. Mr. Ausin, who passed away suddenly from a heart attack, is the father of Mrs. LeRoy Lanoue.

George J. Lober rites held on Saturday. Mr. Lober passed away after suffering a heart attack at his home in Fulda on February 10th at the age of 90 years old.

Services were held on Friday morning for Anthony Huerkamp who passed away at the age of 56 years old.

Wednesday, Feb. 14, 1990

The City of Fulda opted to demolish the old band shell in Fulda City Park to make way for a new ‘gazebo’, hopefully in the same location. The old band shell was built in 1957 and was beyond repair. After years of exposure to wind, rain and snow, the wooden structure covered in stucco was a danger to area residents. The new structure is expected to be up by this summer.

Robyn Rehborg and Patty Kirchner present Project 4 Teens to fourth grade students this week.

Citizens of Tomorrow feature Ashley and Kelsie Thiner, Andrea and Joshua Speckmier, and Corey and Crystal Brinkman.

Alison Lyons and Michael Ramerth announce their engagement. The couple plan a May 5th wedding.

John Murphy passed away January 16th at the age of 67 years old.

The Fulda Police Department was callled to assist in an accident on Monday morning involving a Dodge Caravan and a Chevy Lumina. No one was injured.

Featured in Fulda High School Senior Profiles this week are Dawn Clauson, Petra Jimenez, Jason Schettler and Jordan Van Oort.

The Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program was held at the Fulda Schools for students in the fifth grade the past seven weeks. Essay winners include Miguel Lavoie, Jessica Koster, Shannon Fischer, Charles Stainer, Beth Deuschle and Wade Herrmann.

Former Fulda resident among the 88 killed in Alaska Airlines Flight 261 which crashed into the Pacific Ocean of the California coast. Robert Gandesbery and his wife, Jean (Johnson), both 69 years old were among the dead. Jean grew up in Fulda, Minnesota before attending school at the University of Minnesota where she met Robert.

Stacy Voss and Travis Warborg are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Tayler, born February 5th. Grandparents are Leo and Annette Voss and Linda Sterler and Darrell Warborg.
