Over four hundred people attended the grand opening of Lanoue’s Bowling Center.

The 1960 Census of population and housing will begin on Friday, April 1st. The Nations 18th decennial nose count includes 160,000 census takers covering 3 1/2 million square miles of land within the 50 states.

“A Man Called Peter” will be presented by the Senior Class of the Fulda High School on April 1st.

School principals, counselors, law enforcement, juvenile court judges and probations officers from six counties will attend a youth “Grassroots” meeting in Worthington on April 4th. The meeting is to address the problems youth face today such as teen smoking and driving, as well as coordinate the efforts between the various agencies.

Dr. Sukkar and his family will arrive in Fulda this weekend. The Clinic has been abuzz with the remodeling being done and full laboratory equipment, x-ray machine, examination tables, being moved in. The family will make their home in the Martin Ruesch home.

Ronald Priebe of Slayton enjoyed two weeks at Camp Courage. Ronald, age 17, was left handicapped by Polio.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Mary Harder who passed away on March 22nd at the age of 84 years old.

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hintermeister are the parents of a daughter, Fay, born March 22nd.

Little Susan Grandgeorge created her own little playmates in the form of snowchildren. Of course they won’t last long with the warm temps and bright sunshine.

Albert Brouwer has begun using shredded newspaper for bedding for his young Holstein calves.

Evelyn (Barker) Midgley, who came to Fulda in 1943 with a teaching degree in math and science, is living comfortably at Maple Lawn Nursing Home at the age of 84 years old. She shares some of her life long interests such as playing basketball, ice skating, playing clarinet and meeting and marrying Firth Midgley.

Brothers, Chad and Brad Carroll finished first and second, respectively in the 400 meter run in the M.S.U. Invitational held in Mankato. Ed Wenzel finished strong in the 55 meter hurdles to win first. The boys team finished in third overall. For the girls team, Candi Sell came in second in the 160 meter dash with a time of 22.13. As a team the girls finished in fifth.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Thomas and Trent Meyeraan; Alisa Schweigert; and Sara, Danny, and Kayla Dekker.

The Fulda Knowledge Building Team of, Aaron Van Oort, Roger Koopman, Dallas Bergh and Sarah Faltinson, won first place in the Sub-Regional contest held on Monday. Twenty-one teams from 12 schools participated.

Roger and Sharon Wahl are proud to announce the arrival of their daughter, Stephanie, born March 19th. Grandparents are Leonard and Henrietta Tellinghusien and Irene and Rodney Wahl.

With a record number of citizens in attendance, the Fulda School Board hears from concerned parents on how the Athletic department is being run and how athletes are treated throughout the season.

The Dundee elevator has been dismantled for safety purposes. Built in 1965, the elevator is currently own by New Vision Coop and will be replaced by 10,000 bushel per hour grain leg with conveyors and spouts. The two recently added grain bins will remain as will the scale and office.

Bob Hermann Ozaine was driving down Interstate 90 when he happened to see a road sign reading ‘Fulda 16 miles’. “I was off the Interstate in a flash,” he said. “I needed to get a look at my sister city.” Bob arrived at the Fulda Cafe where he visited with locals Duane Steinman and Del Koopman.

Kimberly Boda and Frederick Spooner announce their engagement. A July wedding is planned.

Floyd Sibson passed away at the age of 85 years old on March 20th.

Alice Knutson passed away on March 22nd at the age of 87 years old.
