April 21, 1960

Be sure to Fly the American Flag on ‘Loyalty Day’ the first weekend in May. Local Veterans of Foreign Wars ask all citizens to participate as “Loyalty” means freedom.

Dennis Dierks, age 12, is injured after being run over by a tractor in a farm accident. Dennis remains in the hospital but is doing well.

Filings open for school election on Monday for the terms of Ray Crowley and Fred Behr.

Dick Nevin was given a season pass for the First Night League by Alex Fisher, Supt. of Fulda Public Schools. Mr. Nevin is the League’s oldest fan.  Look for the Fulda Giants in action in their new uniforms.

Firearms training classes will begin April 26th.

April 18, 1990

Members of the Fulda FFA Chapter plant trees in honor of Earth Day. The Norway (Red) Pine help prevent soil erosion or provide food and shelter for wild animals.

Area firemen participated in a mock drill on Saturday in Currie. The training unit supplied by the State set up a leaking anhydrous ammonia tank,  as well as a unit with a variety of smoke-filled tunnels and rooms with ‘victims’ to be rescued.

Rich Breczinski returns to school at the Fulda High School after quitting one week prior to his original graduation three years go.

A break-in that took place at D&M Variety over the weekend is being investigated by Bob Harris, Fulda Police.

Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Hoffman to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 28th at the Corral Supper Club.

Bonnie Lawry and Jeff Halbur announce their engagement. A September wedding is planned.

Martha Kirlin passed away unexpectedly at the age of 80 years old on April 12, 1990.

Grace Stahlhut passed away on April 7, 1990 at the age of 86 years old.

Mrs. Brake, PE teacher and Mrs. Lund, Music teacher, teamed up to instruct their 6th grade students to square dance. The students were most intrigued by guests, Heinie and Marlene Magnus, who, decked out in their dancing attire, shared their knowledge of square dancing.

Mother Nature fooled us once again this weekend by bringing rain, sleet and ice to the area.

Community Players wrapped up their performance of ‘I Remember Mama’ under the direction of Wilma Lindquist and Margaret Popp.

Featured in Fulda High School Senior Profiles this week are Justin Duinkerken and Kelli Kunze.

Hattie Natte passed away on April 5th at the age of 82 years old.

Elsie Oltmans passed away at the age of 73 years old on April 11th.

Gary Bose passed away on April 13th at the age of 62 years old.

Bernard Pacholl passed away at the age of 94 on April 10th.
