Jerry’s Jottings 1-22-2020

This last week tested the hardiness of Minnesotans. The snow, around a foot, came Friday with some wind but Saturday we had the wind with sub zero temperatures. Cold.  By Sunday, most things were cleaned up and life turned back to normal, somewhat. Streets were in very good shape thanks to the city crew working the weekend. In fact the city, county and state crews did a commendable job. This week, the promise of a warm up, maybe above freezing, will give us a needed change. Oh there will be more snow. You good folks,  who are wintering in the south, are missing out of a lot of fun and misery. Ya, we miss you too. See you in March.

We babysat a friend’s dog over the weekend and enjoyed having the animal a lot. There is a bond that developed with the dog who understands many words but can also read your body language and moods. It’s fun to interact with a mature dog. Yes, puppies are fun but can be trying. A rescue dog has a lot to offer. They are good companions.

An old man went to his doctor complaining of aches and pains all over his body. After a thorough examination, the doctor gave him a clean bill of health.

“You’re in excellent shape for a 75-year-old man,” he said. “But I’m afraid I can’t make you any younger.”

“Who asked you to make me younger?” the man replied. “You just make sure I keep getting older!”
