Murray County Commissioners Approve sale to Fish and Wildlife

Heidi Winter, auditor/treasurer presented the warrants for approval during the May 5th Murray County Commissioner meeting. Warrants included three payments to West Central Communications, Inc. for $3,295 adding T-1 line to Tracy Tower, $3,025 to update 2’ dish on Slayton Tower and $8,029 for damage done during the 2019 ice storm to LEC tower. Winter explained the county had just received the bill for the ice damage. The county submitted a claim to MCIT, which insures the dishes as property in the open, of which instead of covering the $8,029 claim, MCIT is only covering the cost of replacing the dish which leaves the county to cover the remaining $3,000. These were given a nod of approval from the board.

Winter next presented the ditch bills which included CD45, CD47, and JD14 in the amount of $3,361.90. These were also approved.

Ronda Radke, HR, shared a request to hire Nathan Everson as a seasonal surveying technician effective May 25th. The board gave their approval for the hire.

Travis Radke, ditch inspector, shared with the board three petitions including CD43A, Belfast Twp., CD75, Slayton Twp., and JD14, Leeds Twp. Radke was given the go ahead for repairs.

Commissioner Kluis shared with the board information he received from Dale Gillogly, interim CEO at MCMC. Gillogly explained the facility was experiencing a problem with sterilization and needed a new autoclave at a cost of $55,000 and would take 12 weeks to arrive. Commissioner Kluis reached out to Emergency Manager Carl Nyquist regarding the situation with MCMC. Nyquist did some research and as hard as he tried wasn’t able to find cost share sources or the availability of receiving the equipment any sooner. During the discussion, Commissioner Welgraven asked if it would be possible to get updates like the prior CEO Michael Ladevich used to do. Commissioner Jens said he will reach out to Gillogly and try to arrange something.
