The First Presbyterian Church of Fulda celebrated its seventy-fifth anniversary on February 28th with Rev. James Butler, Rev. Dale Cunningham and Dr. Lloyd Peterson each giving a sermon to more than four hundred fifty parishioners. Following the Worship activities was the burning of the mortgage ceremony was conducted by Jodi Anderson, Board of Deacons.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Kuehl underwent a terrifying experience on Thursday when Bobby was brought home from school with a brain concussion caused by a fall on the ice. He was taken to the Worthington hospital, however, Young Bobby regained consciousness slowly and wasn’t dismissed from the hospital until Saturday. Bobby has had no after-effects.

A fire which broke out late Wednesday morning, completely destroyed the ten room farm home of Mrs. Mary Krueger and her son August. The fire started in the vicinity of the television set. The Kruegers were not home at the time of the blaze. Both Wilmont and Fulda responded to the fire.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Carlson are the parents of a daughter, Sheryl born February 28th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mr.s Clifford Langer and Mr. and Mrs. Carl D. Carlson.

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Beeck are the parents of a son born February 26th.

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lowe are the parents of a daughter, born February 29th. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lowe are the grandparents.

Annette Hoffman and David Olson announce their engagement. The couple plans a late summer wedding.

Miss Colleen M. Jansen became the bride of Mr. Charles R. Davis on February 20, 1960. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davis will make their home in Lincoln where Charles is stationed.

Frederick E. Dorman, 91 passed away Monday Night in Worthington.

John C. Whalan passed away February 21st in Winona.

Wednesday, Feb. 28, 1990

The Fulda Raider Marching Band is heading to the 1990 Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. The Band leaves on July 4th and returns the 11th or 12th.

Maple Lawn Nursing Home will be sporting a brand new look in the form of two additions; a chapel on wing C and a four-double room wing B.

Margaret Popp, a true blue volunteer at heart, chairs the Fulda Charity Drive, helps with the Community Play, and is always looking for new members for the Community Club. When you can’t find Margaret volunteering in the community you can find her smiling behind her desk at First National Bank!

Citizens of Tomorrow include Scott and Liza Knorr, Jamie and Brittany Goedtke, and Jenna and Jeremy Goedtke.

Fulda students attending the Junior High Music Festival held in Slayton include Alicia Hart, Sarah Ruesch, Angie Reith, Matt Kellen, Brad Wieskus, Chad Wieskus, Nancy Overman, Tony Winter, Jenny Kirsch, Sara Biren, Candy Lubben and Kara Meier.

Jason Konz placed second in the Individual Wrestling tournaments last Saturday to earn himself a slot in the State Tournament!

Carrie Fuerstenberg has been studying karate for the past four years and has received her Black Belt.

Irene Scheuring passed away on February 19th at the age of 88 years old.

Pamela Bergh and Mark Overby announce their engagement. An April wedding is planned.

Fulda Charities is please to have exceeded their goal of raising $6,000. Contributions of over $7,000 will be dispersed to Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association and the American Red Cross.

Fulda High School juniors learned the use of a transit, angle finder, and meter tapes to figure the height of the Interstate tower and the TV tower north of town during a geometry class experiment.

Ashtyn Baerenwald celebrated her leap-year birth this year.

A fire broke out at a home on Lafayette Ave. South approximately 12:00 p.m. on February 26th where extensive damage occurred to the home of Jason Wildfeuer and Ryan Chepa. Cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fourth grade MCC student, Alexander Carney, journeyed to central Philippines on a three week tour with his father, grandparents and great-grandparents.  Alex was introduced to new world foods, transportation modes and visited his great-great-grandparents grave sites.

The Fulda Police Department assisted the Minnesota State Patrol in a call on February 23 at the intersection of Minnesota 59 and Nobles County 18. The accident involved a 1994 Chevy van and a 1987 Chevy truck which both received extensive damage.

A power outage left many Fulda residents in blackout conditions on February 23 due to a fire in one of the electrical lines located behind Maynards on Wednesday. Approximately half the city was without power for close to an hour while repairs were made by Alliant Energy.

KELO TV meteorologist, Scott Mundt visited the fourth grade class at the Fulda Elementary School on Thursday to share how they use Doppler Radar to detect storms.

Matthew Hausken ordained on Sunday at Pine Island.

Clare and Candi Schweigert are the parents of a daughter, Paige born January 19th. Grandparents include Audrey Sargent, Donald Wood, Bonnie and Rueben Hedquist and Edward and RoseMary Schweigert.

Paul Mathews battled well on the mats to earn second place in individual competition and a State Wrestling trip.
