Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Gundry were honored on Golden Wedding Anniversary with a reception at First Presbyterian Church of Fulda on Sunday.

The engagement of Miss Margaret Mannas and Mr. William Kuehl is being announced by their parents. The nuptials will take place on June 4th at St. Francis Xavier Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Joan Landers and Ronald Mansmith engagement announced. No definite wedding date has been set.

In a recent Census Fulda’s population is an even 1200; Murray County is credited with 14,670 men, women, and children. Population in Avoca is 224; Currie 440; Dovray 113; and Slayton 2,476.

Floyd and Margot Enninga, Linda and Michael, from Frankfurt, Germany, were honored at a “Welcome to America” party on Friday evening at Immanuel American Lutheran Church. Leroy Enninga is the son of Floyd and Margot.

The Fulda schools will hold an open house on May 16th with exhibits and demonstrations in Industrial Arts, Home Economics, Agriculture and Physical Education.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Janssen celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with an open house on Sunday.

Fred G. Enninga passed away at the age of 65 on Tuesday. Funeral service will be held Friday.

Jacob Sauer passed away on April 26th at the age of 63 years old.

Mr. and Mrs. John Meyer are the parents of a son born April 30th.

The Fulda Raider Marching Band continues to prepare for their trip to Calgary, Canada to participate in the Calgary Stampede Grand Parade.

Miss Fulda candidates include Deb Beckmann, Anita Miller and Elyse Gunderman.

Stacey Sturm will have her ‘Helping Hands’ display at the National FLA Convention this summer.

Walter Bruns has been working at the Fulda Lumber Yard for the past 30 years.

‘Father Knows Best’ Era brought baseball alive in the Fulda Area – a series of stories by JoAnn Biren.

Douglas Chepa, a junior at Fulda High School, spent the week serving as a Page at the State Capitol. Chepa also met with Representative Ted Winter, District 28A.

Fulda Speech members placing at the State meet were Todd Kirchner, Heather Gielen, and Jamie Maertens.

Candi Sell placed 1st in the 200 meter, 2nd in the 400 meter and 4th in the high jump to lead the Fulda girls track team to a third place finish this week.

Chad Carroll, a Fulda High School senior, has been selected as one of only eight athletes to be invited to compete in this year’s ‘Special Event’ at the 66th annual Howard Wood Dakota Relays. The event will be the 800 meter run scheduled for May 4th.

Ida Gehlsen, a former Iona Resident, is 103 years old and going strong. Her advice is to ‘work hard but stay happy’!

Loren and Sara Heintz are the parents of a girl, Emily, born April 21st. Grandparents are Alvin and Arlene Heintz and David and Janet Golisch.

David and Kathy Fuchs are proud to announce the birth of their son, Adam, born April 25th. Grandparents are Gary Krogman, Mary Krogman and Ken and Terri Fuchs.

Jeff and Jenny Town announce the birth of a baby girl, Rebecca, born April 18th. Grandparents include Bill and Sharon Fuerstenberg and Darwin and Betty Towne.

Esther Gisclon passed away on April 23rd at the age of 86 years old.

Walter Freeland passed away on March 20th at the age of 95 years old.

Chuck Buschena, 51, passed away on Sunday. Funeral services will be held on May 2nd.

Fulda Boy Scouts hold Annual Pinewood Derby on Thursday.

Fulda Elementary 6th graders in the classes of Mr. Carroll and Mr. Sandberg have been observing two identical Albino rats named Destiny and Sugar. The class spends time feeding the rats, playing with them, and taking notes on their progress.

Tour of Homes held in Fulda sponsored by the Fulda Women of Today.
