After several months passing since Dr. Stevenson moved to Oregon, Fulda, and the surrounding vicinity, will once again have a doctor!  Dr. Fouad Sukker, originally from Brittish Sudan, North Central Africa, has traveled the world during his training. Most recently he has worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota. Dr. Sukker will arrive in Fulda in the near future.  His wife and two daughters will follow at a later date.

David Drealan, eighth grader at St. Gabriel’s school is the new champion in the County Spelling Bee. He will be attending State competition on April 9th.

Miss Joan Timms and Mr. Lenus Jans were married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Oregon on February 27th.

Ken Roberts, Fulda Implement Co., is having a huge Machinery Sale.

Northwestern Bell Telephone Company has announced a change for Dundee numbers. Instead of the HO (for HOmestead) the numerals 46 8 will be inserted (8 being the central office designation).  – Example HO 1234 will now be 468-1234.

Erich Elting resigns as Fulda Fire Chief. Mr. Elting has been a member of the Fire Department since 1926 and Chief for 14 years.

Project Future to begin in Fulda.

National Lutheran Schools week held at St. Paul’s Lutheran School. Students were supposed to enjoy DQ Blizzards on Thursday from Principal Lorretta Gehl, instead they received a day off thanks the a blizzard sent by Mother Nature.

Save the Turtles is the name of the first and second grade students project at St. Paul’s School. To date they are $3.00 short of saving two Sea Turtles.

The Fulda Speech Department host the Snowball Speech Invitational behind the coaching of Gary and Judy Holden.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Michael, Vicki and Brianna Bestge; Jasmine, Michael, David, and Daniel Lund; and Jonathan, Virginia, and Elizabeth Pals.

Featured in Fulda High School Senior Profiles this week is Steve Engelkes.

Roxy Hakeneis topped the charts this week in bowling with a high game of 232 and a high series of 562.

Competing at State BPA from Fulda and coming home with hardware were; Becky Chapman, 5th Office Assistant; Patty Kirchner, top finalist in Keyboarding; and Bobbi Jo Swenson, top Banking Application.

Mr. and Mrs Larry Wall are the parents of a daughter, Brittney, born February 16th.  Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Olsem and Mrs. Gloria Wall.

Lila Brust and John Sowards announce their engagement. The couple is planning an April wedding.

Kitchen Conersation by Mary Schipper features ‘Pork and Bean Bread’ and Dishpan Cookies.

Wood Duck Festival dates have been set for June 16, 17, and 18.

It’s maple syrup time at Shetek. Plan to attend the making of and tasting of Maple Syrup on March 19th at Shetek Lutheran Ministries campground.

Grandparents Day held at St. Paul’s Lutheran School this week.

Heavy snow hit the area over the weekend leaving a blanket of white from 4 to 6 inches. Even the robins, groundhogs and tulips were surprised!

Earl Schuster passed away on February 25th at the age of 73 years old.

Esther McCormack passed away at the age of 85 years old on March 7th.

Richard Kunzweiler passed away on March 3, 2000 at the age of 77 years old.

Louis Schweigert Sr. passed away on March 11th at the age of 68 years old.
