Sharlene Anderson, Fulda, was named the Executive Director of Murray County Developmental Achievement Center (DAC) on August 1st of this year. Although new to the position, she is not new to serving people with disabilities.
Anderson is a graduate of Slayton High School, which is now known as Murray County Central. She attended Augustana College, Sioux Falls, SD, earning a degree in Criminal Justice.
Following her graduation from college, Anderson accepted a job at a group home in Marshall, MN working with juvenile delinquents. After working there for a time, she took a part-time, summer job working at the DAC in Slayton.
Anderson then accepted a position in Stillwater, MN, continuing to work with those with disabilities. “I worked with day programming, job procurement, following up on jobs, job coaching, and also program coordinator duties,” Anderson explained. “I stayed in the Twin Cities area for eighteen years and then made a decision to return to this area.”
Anderson applied for an opening as a supervisor at New Dawn in Fulda. She was offered the job, so she moved to Fulda and supervised two group homes in the city.
